Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) has said that his group was working round the clock to make sure peace returns to all troubled parts of Nigeria.
Abubakar, who is the chairman of the National Peace Committee said this to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.
He expressed the hope that all crises facing the country would be resolved by the Buhari- led administration, with the support of his group and other stakeholders.
“We are still working, although quietly. We are working to make sure that there is peace in the country and all the political parties work amicably because each one has got a role to play,” Abubakar said.
“So, I hope the current administration through the assistance of all Nigerians will give a helping hand to make sure that these crises that are unnecessary and uncalled for, we overcome them,” he said.
Asked to comment on the the government’s handling of the Niger Delta Avengers and Boko Haram crises, Abubakar said, “I have discussed with the President whom I came to see and I don’t think I need to disclose to the media”.
