Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and other party stalwarts on Wednesday paid a solidarity visit to former Presidential spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
In his entourage were Senator Ben Obi, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Publicity Secretary, Sen. Abdul Ningi, PDP Organising Secretary, Senator Ughesi and Hajiya Binta Kuraye.
The chieftains also saw former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, and former Minister of State for Defense, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro in EFCC detention facility in Abuja
According to a source at the meeting, the PDP chieftains encouraged the detainees to remain strong.
They assured them that the PDP family was solidly behind them.
They told them to keep their heads high and to remain strong.
“The visit was used to express full solidarity with them.
“The chieftains were happy to see that despite their challenges and detention, they all were strong and in high spirits.
“They urged them to keep their minds at rest and assured that the whole of the PDP family is solidly behind them.
They told them to keep their heads held up high and to stay agile”, the source said.
Abati and the three others thanked Makarfi and his entourage for the solidarity visit.
Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, had also recently paid a similar visit to the quartet.
