The weekly Federal Executive Council meeting did not take place as scheduled in the State House, Abuja on Wednesday.
President Muhamnadu Buhari was said to have cancelled it in honour of victims of Nigerian fighter jet accidental bombing at an IDP camp in Borno state on Tuesday.
No official reason was given for the cancellation but sources in the State House said the President was still mourning the about 100 Internally Displaced Persons and aide workers who died in the acidental air strike.
The President also sent a delegation comprising top government officials to the state to condole the state government and families of the victims.
The President’s team on condolence visit to the state include his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali; Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed; and service chiefs.
All the listed men are members of the FEC, except the service chiefs.
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, confirmed the visit in his Twitter handle on Tuesday.
Nigerian Air Force authorities said on Tuesday that its men mistook the IDP camp for a Boko Haram hideout and bombed the place, killing many civilians.
Aid workers confirmed to have been killed in the bombing included the officials of Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres), International Committee of the Red Cross
The Nigerian Air Force said in a statement of apology on Tuesday evening that it had begun an investigation into the incident.
