…Title holder assures emirate of support
Authorities in Lafia Emirate Council, Nasarawa State, would continue to benefit from the support of its subjects in its bid to engender, sustain and promote peace and development in the area.
The Lafia Emirate Council, with its headquarters in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, in recent times, enjoys relative peace, despite its closeness to the states of Kaduna, Benue and Plateau that are noted for their cases of communal and sectarian violence.
The relative peace being enjoyed in the state, in general, and Lafia, in particular, can be attributed to the cooperation extended to the authorities there by the people who have, singularly and collectively, shunned violence.
Stating the readiness of the people to continue going on this path, recently, was Malam Gambo Yakubu Umaru, who assured the Lafia Emirate Council and the state’s authorities of his support.
Umaru, who was recently turbaned by the Emir of Lafia, Muhammad Sidi Bage, JSC (rtd), as the santalin Lafia, said he would continue to contribute his quota to the development of the emirate council and the state, at large.
Santali Lafia stated his specific readiness to work for the development of the emirate when he addressed newsmen, in Lafia, on the need for the people to maintain peace and contribute to development efforts of the emir.
The Santali highlighted areas where he focus his attention to develop to include peace promotion, youths and women empowerment and infrastructural development, saying: “These are some of the crucial areas that need to get attention.”
Umaru, who is also the Dan Madamin Azara, said he “appreciate the Emir of Lafia, Rtd Justice Sidi Bage, for finding me worthy to be appointed as Santali,” assuring the emir of his unflinching support to the emirate council and its development.
“I will continue to support the emirate council to succeed by contributing my quota to the development of the emirate council and the state at large,” he said.
Santalin Lafia, who described the emirate of Lafia as “peace promoter,” called on stakeholders and other people of the area to continue to pray for, and extend their support to, the emir to enable him succeed.
The Santali said that as a businessman, he would remain keyed into the good economic policies and programmes of the federal and state governments with a view to improving the conditions of lives of the people of the state.
He called on the people of the state to live in peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of their affiliations for development to occur and subsist, adding: “No nation or society would achieve meaningful progress without peace. I, therefore, call on the people to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, live in peace and tolerate one another.”
It would be recalled that the Emir of Lafia, Rtd Justice Sidi Bage on August 1, 2020, turbaned Malam Gambo Yakubu Umaru as Santalin Lafia.
