Hoogewerf, a 16-year-old attacker, came up through the youth ranks of Ajax.
The teen, who stands at just 5ft 4 inches tall, can play either along the wing or as a centre-forward.
Despite his diminutive stature, Hoogewerf has long been considered one of the finest young talents on the books of the Amsterdam giants.
The creative dynamo racked up 10 goals and 6 assists across 18 appearances in the U17 Eredivisie this past season, the kind of production which even saw him handed the chance to shine with Johnny Heitinga’s U19 side on 5 occasions.
In addition, at international level, Hoogewerf has featured for the Netherlands at U15 and U16 level.
Despite continuing to flourish under the guidance of Ajax’s renowned youth coaches, though, Hoogewerf yesterday appeared to confirm his imminent departure from the Eredivisie champions.
And the prodigious talent’s next destination looks set to be in the Premier League, with Manchester United.
Taking to Instagram, Hoogewerf posted a video, showcasing him transforming from an Ajax kit into a Red Devils’ one:
Hoogewerf turned down the chance to sign his first professional contract at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in favour of making the move to Manchester, with Ajax head of youth Said Ouaali having confirmed that the capital giants did ‘everything’ they could have to keep hold of the 16-year-old:
‘We wish Dillon a lot of success.’
‘We know we have done everything we can to keep him. Ultimately, the choice is up to him and he has opted for a foreign adventure.’
