Emmanuel Macron, the 39-year old outsider, has defeated Marine Le Pen to win French Presidential election.
He is the youngest French President since Napoleon Bonaparte in 1848.
In a historic second round poll conducted on Sunday, Macron received over 65.5 percent of the votes while his far right opponent got about 34 percent.
About 65.3 percent of French people turned out to cast their votes, a decrease of four percent of those who showed up during the first round of the election last month when 69.4 percent of voters turned out.
During the second round of the Presidential election in 2012, 71.9 percent of French voters turned out to cast their ballots. It was 75 percent in 2007 and 67 percent in 2002.
