Ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games taking place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Nigeria U-23 team, the Dream Team VI, has been placed in Group B alongside Sweden, Colombia, and Japan.
The draw took place on Thursday at the Maracana Stadium in Brazil. Hosts Brazil are in Group A alongside South Africa, Iraq and Denmark.
Men’s defending champions Mexico will battle the trio of Fiji, Germany and Korea Republic in Group C. Two-time champions Argentina are in group D with Honduras, Algeria and Portugal.
The U-23 Eagles beat Japan 2-1 in the group stage of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. For the women, hosts Brazil are in Group E alongside China Peoples Republic, Sweden and South Africa. Another Africa representative Zimbabwe, will do battle in Group F with Canada, Australia and Germany.
While defending champions USA are in group G with New Zealand, France and Colombia. The men’s tournament will start on the 4th of August and end on 20 August, while the women will hold on the 3rd to 20th of August
