The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, on Tuesday appeared before an investigative panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to look into his alleged role in the famous grass cutting scandal.
Lawal was accused by a Senate committee of allegedly awarding inflated contracts in the Presidential Initiative for Northeast to companies in which he has interest.
He was suspended by the President last week, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Lawal appeared before the panel, headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at a session that started at about 1pm.
The panel which also has National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as members meets inside one of the conference rooms in the Vice-President’s office.
The Director General of the National Intelligence, Ayo Oke, whose link to the 13 bilion naira recently recovered funds is also being investigated, was quized on Monday.
