The North East Youth Peace Development & Empowerment Initiative (NEYPDEI) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to as matter of urgent national priority confirm the appointment of Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
The group in statement signed by its National President, Alhaji Kyari Abubakar, argued that the immediate confirmation of Magu would impact positively on the ongoing war against corruption.
“We are convinced beyond all doubts that the confirmation of Mr. Magu who led a successful investigations against some high profile politicians when he was head of Economic Governance Unit of the anti-graft agency would lead to successful war against corruption,” he said.
“Magu’s achievements since he joined the anti-graft agency during the time of former Chairman of EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu is legendary and we believe he has the pedigree to champion a new course for the fight against corruption in the country,” he added.
