The Federal Government has said that no decision will be taken on signing the 2016 budget until ongoing peace talks with the National Assembly are concluded.
Briefing State House correspondents after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma said no date can be fixed for the approved copy from the legislature to be signed by President Muhammadu Buhari until talks are concluded.
The government has however set out the timetable for the submission of the 2017 budget, saying that the idea was to ensure early delivery of the document. Udoma also stated that there was no currency deal swap with the Chinese government. The decision for further negotiation with the federal lawmakers was taken at the Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting at the State House.
