Sadio Mane has picked up the Premier League Player of the Month award for August following impressive goal scoring start to the 2017/18 campaign.

The Liverpool forward has continued on from his fine debut season on Merseyside, scoring in each of their opening three Premier League fixtures.

Mane scored his first for the season in Liverpool’s opening-day 3-3 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road on August 19, levelling the scoring for the Reds midway through the first half.

Mane then came to his side’s rescue in the 73rd minute of Liverpool’s 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace, scoring the only goal of the game to hand Jurgen Klopp’s side a first Anfield victory of the season.

It was then on to a highly-anticipated Anfield clash against Arsenal, a game in which Liverpool showcased their newly-formed attacking trio of Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

All three got their names on the scoresheet and heaped the pressure on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, helping Liverpool to a comprehensive 4-0 victory, with Mane also chosen as the man of the match.

The Senegal international picks up the award having fended off competition from Phil Jones, Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan [Manchester United], Alvaro Morata [Chelsea], Jonas Lossl [Huddersfield] and Liverpool team-mate Salah.

This is the first time Mane has picked up a Premier League Player of the Month award since his move to England from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in September 2014.
