The legendary Nigerian reggae singer, Mr Majekodunmi Fasheke, is dead, his manager, Omenka Uzoma, said on Tuesday.
Uzoma said in a short video that the music king, popularly called Majek Fashek, died in a New York hospital in the late hours of Monday, June 1, 2020, at the age of 57.
“Today been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker.
“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified,” he said.
Born in Benin-City, Edo state, Fashek shook the Nigerian music industry in the 1980s, and was best known for the 1988 album “Prisoner of Conscience,” which included the multiple award-winning single “Send Down the Rain.”
