Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, will on Wednesday, address a world press conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

The press conference, which holds at 3pm local time, is part of activities lined up by the Circle of Diplomats ( Circle Diplomatique) Geneva in honour of Jonathan, which would be concluded with a dinner same day.

A statement by Guy Mettan, Executive Director, the Geneva Press Club, said Jonathan will address two most crucial topics in Nigeria and West Africa at the press briefing.
According to Mettan, Jonathan will talk about security and civil peace in Nigeria and West Africa, on one hand, as well as improvement of health and education of children, on the other.

He said accredited United Nations correspondents and Swiss journalists are expected at the press conference, which will most likely see Jonathan talking about Boko Haram activities in Nigeria and the fight against insurgency.

The Circle of Diplomats will also host a dinner in honour of Jonathan on Wednesday night at the Intercontinental Hotel, Geneva.

Since accepting defeat and handing over to President Muhammadu Buhari last year, the former Nigerian leader has been honoured in different parts of the world.

He has however been blamed by officials of the present government for some of the challenges the country is facing at the moment.

Many of his key lieutenants are presently standing trial for corruption-related allegations which they perpetrated under his watch, fueling rumours that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may soon invite him for questioning.

The ex-President is therefore expected to comment on some of the issues, especially the $2.1 billion arms procurement funds which the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) allegedly diverted into Jonathan’s failed reelection bid.
