The federal government has on Tuesday honoured 12 civil servants for their punctuality, commitment and dedication to official responsibilities.
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, presented certificates of commendation and a laptop to each of the twelve officers in Abuja during Permanent Secretaries’ service wide meeting.
Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita said the civil servants were honoured in line with her promise to reward and encourage hard work and commitment to duty in the federal civil service.
She said the officers were honoured because they were at their duty posts at 8:00am when she paid an unscheduled visit to the Phase one of the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja last year.
She said the unscheduled visit to the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) was to see how staff aligned themselves with the change mantra of the present administration.
The Head of Service said civil servants abstaining from their duty posts without permission and those who report to work late or close before the time would be sanctioned according to the Public Service Rules.
She called on the Permanent Secretaries to adopt the system of paying unscheduled visit to staff in their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) so as to encourage efficiency and productivity.
