The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced the commencement of Ramadan with effect from Monday, June 6, 2016.
The Sultan, who made the announcement on Sunday, said Ramadan crescent was sighted in some parts of Katsina and Zamfara states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Thinkers Newspaper reports that the moon has also been sighted in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates and Chins, among other countries.
