There was pandemonium in Taiwo area of Ilorin on Monday when news broke that notorious political thug, Alhaji Bayo Ajia, was shot dead by four unknown gunmen.
The assailants were said to have shot him severally on the head and dealt several machete cuts on his lifeless body to ensure that he was dead.
Eye witnesses told Thinkers Newspaper correspondent that the assailants were said to have arrived the deceased workshop in a taxi cab around 4:15p.m. and met Ajia alone in his shop.
They then proceeded to under the bridge, close to the State Stadium complex, where he operated a car wash shop and attacked him.
Residents of Ilorin were shocked with the death of Ajia who was one of the most dreaded political thugs in the city.
He had been sentenced to death by an Ilorin High Court in 2004 over cases of murder.
The Supreme Court had also upheld his death sentence before the immediate past administration in the state granted him state pardon.
The deceased, who is survived by four wives and many children, has since been buried at the Muslim cemetery at Irewolede in Ilorin.
