The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has elected Reverend Supo Ayokunle as its new president.
Ayokunke who was elected at the National Ecumenical Centre on Tuesday takes over from Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
Ayokunle is the current national president of Nigerian Baptist Convention.
He defeated Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement, MCCSW, with 54 votes to 28.
It was the outgoing president of the body, Oritsejafor, that announced the result of the election and declared Ayokunle his successor.
