President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday vowed to deal decisively with the latest wave of pipeline vandalism, oil theft and other forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.
The President declared that the Nigerian Armed Forces had already dealt “deadly blows” on Boko Haram, adding that the activities of oil thieves and vandals would soon be brought to an end.
“The oil thieves and abductors are a less problematic target. We will re-organise and deal with them,” he said.
The President who spoke at an interactive forum with members of the Nigerian Community in Abu Dhabi, said the war against terrorism can only be won with the collective effort and commitment of everyone.
Niger Delta militants had over the weekend resumed bombing of oil pipelines in the region, forcing the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to shut crude oil flows to both Warri and Kaduna Refineries.
The latest attacks by the militants were reportedly a consequence of the efforts by government to bring Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo to justice over alleged N40 billion fraud.
