President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with service chiefs and other members of the National Security Council.
The meeting which started around 11am and ended at about 4pm was the first meeting of the Council in 2016.
No member of the Council spoke to State House correspondents after the meeting but the agenda of the meeting were expected to surround the ongoing battle against insurgents in the northeast with regards the deadline set for the military by the President which elapsed a week ago.
In attendance at the meeting were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olowonishakin, and Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai.
Others were Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok- Ete Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and Minister of Defence, Mansur Mohammed Dan- Alli.
