President Muhammadu Buhari has described late Hajiya Fadimatu Ganduje, mother of the Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as a woman of virtue and vision who brought up her children with a strong sense of public service.
In a condolence message at the burial ceremony at Ganduje village near Kano on Friday, the President said the deceased matriarch watched over the affairs of her household with care and diligence.
“She was a personification of humility and decency. Decency was one of her magnetic and inspiring virtues. Nigerian parents should emulate her sterling character in their conducts,” he said.
He prayed Allah to accept her good deeds and forgive her sins.
The President urged Governor Ganduje, his family and the people of Kano state to bear the loss with fortitude.
The President was represented at the burial by a delegation led by the Minister Internal Affairs, Abdulrahman Dambazau with the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu; Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu as members.
Others in the delegation were the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris; the Deputy National Chairman of the APC, Senator Lawal Shuaibu and a retired Military officer, Major-General Abdulmalik Jibrin.
In his remarks shortly after the funeral ceremony, Governor Ganduje who spoke on behalf of his bereaved brothers and sisters, said the people of Kano state would remain eternally grateful to the President for his consistent identification with them in their moments of joy or sadness.
