President Idriss Déby of Chad has been reportedly killed on the frontline during a battle against rebels advancing on the country’s capital, Ndjamena.
This was announced by Chad’s army officials Tuesday afternoon.
The newly re-elected President Idriss Déby has died of wounds while commanding the army in battles against rebels in the north.
President Idriss Déby had won a sixth term by 79.3% in the latest provisional results released on Monday.
He was expected to give a victory speech after receiving the provisional results, but reportedly opted to visit Chadian solidears on the front lines.
