The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the election of Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party as governor of Rivers State.
The Court didn’t give reasons for its decision but said detailed reasons for the verdict would be provided on February 12.
Wike’s election had been nullified by both the Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
The two courts had called for the conduct of fresh election in the state.
The petition challenging the election of Wike as Rivers State Governor was filed by Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
