Members of the House of Representatives elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have demanded for the immediate release of the party’s National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Metuh is currently being detained by the EFCC for allegedly collecting N400 million from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki who is being investigated over $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.
The lawmakers, led by Mr. Leo Ogor, told journalists in Abuja that Metuh’s continued detention was a breach of rule of law.
They, therefore, asked the EFCC should either release him on administrative bail within the next 48 hours or charge him to competent court of law, saying that failure to do so would leave them with no option than to follow all democratic processes on the matter.
