Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has contradicted his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by describing the ongoing anti-graft crusade as perfect.
The PDP and other chieftains of the party have consistently described the ongoing anti-corruption war as an attempt to decimate and intimidate key opposition figures.
The party has also described the continued incarceration of former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and PDP spokesman, Olisah Metuh over corruption allegations as symptoms of a dictatorial regime.
Speaking to State House correspondents after seeing the President on Wednesday, Professor Ayade however backed the anti- corruption campaign, saying the war was necessary because of the pain, frustration and hardship Nigerians had passed through over the years.
He said it was so sad that the people were so poor in a nation abundantly blessed with natural resources.
“The anti-corruption war is perfect. For those who know the pain and hardship that Nigerians have passed through, for the hardship and frustrations. As a nation there is so much in terms of natural resources and the people are so poor.
It is only obvious that any serious government must take the issue of corruption seriously, and I think that is why today Nigeria is beginning to have national and international image that looks like Nigeria is getting prepared for business.
“That is why investments are flowing into Cross River State, that is a sign that the anti-corruption war is actually working and it is giving Nigeria the international image that we need.”
