The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally released the publisher of Sahara Reporters and leader of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, from illegal detention.
Sowore’s release came few hours after Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court Abuja ordered the DSS to comply with earlier directive that he should be released.
Sowore who contested for the highest office in the land in February was arrested on August 3 for planning a series of protests to demand good governance.
He first met his bail conditions on November 6, but he was not released even after sustained nationwide outrage.
Justice Ojukwu, on Thursday morning, gave the DSS 24 hours to release Sowore or face the consequences of contempt of court.
