Former Leader of the Senate Mr Ali Ndume said Monday that he is not in alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties on his Senate Presidency ambition.
Ndume said this while fielding questions after a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting between the vice president and the lawmaker commenced at 3:20pm and ended around 4:15pm.
Ndume said the rumours of the alliance with the opposition were being peddled by his political detractors.
The lawmaker said he considers himself as the number one enemy of the opposition.
He said his visit the Vice President was part of the consultations on the number three seat in the country, and declined to disclose details of what transpired during the meeting.
When asked if he was stepping down for the preferred candidate Senator Ahmed Lawan, the lawmaker asked rhetorically, “Me?” and hurried out of the Presidential Villa.
Ndume had a couple of weeks ago declared his intention to run for the Senate Presidency despite the endorsement of the current Senate Leader, Mr Ahmed Lawan for position by the major stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
