Wife of the President and founder of Future Assured Programme, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has called on Nigerians to show support to the victims of the recent flooding in some parts of Benue state with a view to complementing government effort at providing succour to them.
Mrs Buhari said this on Monday while distributing relief materials to the victims in Makurdi. The materials include rice, garri, tomato puree, food seasoning, nutritional packs for children and other essential commodities.
Represented by the wife of the Governor of Nasarawa state, Hajiya Mairo Tanko Almakura, said assisting the victims was necessary in order ease their difficulties.
She sympathised with the government and people of Benue state over the disaster, especially the victims.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Benue state government, the Deputy Governor of Benue state, Benson Abounu, commended Mrs. Buhari for the humanitarian gesture. He said the gesture would bring hope to the hopeless, and assured her of fair distribution and effective utilisation of the items.
