The Peoples Democratic Party has announced its candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo state.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s second tenure of four years is expected to end later this year.
Eyitayo Jegede, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, who served under the present administration, emerged victorious in the primary election conducted in Akure on Monday.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria scored 760 votes to beat Saka Lawal, his only rival, who scored 22 votes.
Jegede had on July 23 resigned his appointment in preparation for the electoral battle.
Governor Mimiko has been accused of plotting to impose his ‘stooge’ irrespective of the fact that they both hail from Akure.
