The running mate to Late Prince Abubakar Audu in the last gubernatorial election in Kogi state, Hon James Abiodun Faleke and Audu’s son, Mohammed Audu were on Saturday invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) and detained.
While the DSS did not state the reason for their arrest, it may not be unconnected with security arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony of governor- elect, Yahaya Bello .
A security source told our correspondent in Lokoja that some youths had threatened to disrupt the handing over ceremony if Faleke’s case is not reconsidered.
The defeated incumbent,Capt Idris Wada (rtd) is expected to hand over to Bello on January 27.
Faleke, who is a second term member of the House of Representatives has been laying claim to to the coveted Lugard House, saying the November 21 election was concluded before the death of his boss, Abubakar Audu.
He has therefore chosen Audu’s son, Mohammed as his running mate in the battle to reclaim the governorship seat.
But contrary to Faleke’s argument, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress presented Bello to INEC as replacement to the late Prince Audu on the strength that Bello came second in the party’s governorship primaries.
