60 people feared dead in Lafiya gas explosion – Readers Discretion Advised

A deadly gas explosion occurred on Monday at a station along Jos Road in Lafia, Nassarawa state capital, causing the death of more than 60 people.

Among the dead were women and children.

The cause of the inferno was not known as at the time of writing this report.

But report has it that the fire was caused by a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist accidentally hit the coal tar with vehicle stander and sparked the fire around the area where gas had leaked to.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Silas Ali Agata, and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant and President of Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who was in

Lafia in continuation of his political consultations, were among those who visited the injured in hospital.
