Buhari sacks Maina, queries Head of Service over recall

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the immediate sack of former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdullahi Abdulrasheed Maina.

Maina was controversially recalled back to work and posted to the Ministry of Interior recently after he was disengaged by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan over allegations of fraud worth billions of naira.

The President has now responded to a nationwide outrage by weilding the big stick on Maina who has been on the run for years.

The President ordered the probe of the circumstances surrounding Maina’s recall and instructed Head of Service of the Federation, Wilfred Oyo-Ita, to explain in a report to the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, before the close of work on Monday.

“In a memo to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the President equally demanded a full report of the circumstances of Maina’s recall and posting to the Ministry of Interior.

The report is to be submitted to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, before the end of work today, Monday, October 23, 2017,” a statement by Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, read read in part.
