Buhari to address 72nd session of UN General Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to New York, United States next week to attend the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.

President Buhari is scheduled to address the largest gathering of world leaders in its 72nd session on Tuesday.

The President who according to the programme of events is listed as number seven on the provincial list of speakers will address the assembly after the leaders of Brazil, the United States, Guinea, Switzerland, Jordan and Slovakia.

While the President’s trip is yet to be officially confirmed, sources in the Presidency said on Sunday that the UN gathering will be treated as topmost priority as against recent assignments which have been delegated to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The trip will be President Buhari’s first official foreign assignment since returning to the country from London after 103 days of medical attention.
