Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has approved N1,196, 440, 441.00 (one billion, one hundred and ninety-six million, four hundred and forty thousand, four hundred and forty one naira) as gratuity payment to a batch of 651 civil servants who retired or died in service between February 2015 and October 2015.

The  governor’s spokesman, Abdullahi Bego, said in a statement on Friday that the payments will be made to the beneficiaries from the Paris Club refund received from the federal government recently.

It would be recalled that the governor had about a month ago made a similar  approval of about 883 million naira to a batch of 443 civil servants who retired between June 2014 and February 2015.

The statement added the Alhaji Bukar Chidami-led verification committee is working to verify all subsequent retirees, whose retirement dates fall between November 2015 to date.

The remaining retirees, Bego said, will therefore receive their entitlements as soon as the committee is through with its work.
