Buhari, Saraki, Dogara discuss Niger Delta, other issues

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, met with the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The three leaders discussed the situation in the Niger Delta, 2017 Budget, ambassadorial nominees and other national issues.

Saraki who spoke to State House correspondents after the 40-minute meeting, said they basically discussed all the major things that were done in the President’s absence and the way forward.

“The budget is ongoing; things that we passed in his absence – the issue of the CJN, the Eurobond, the issue of the ambassadorial nominees that is due; the stability in the Niger Delta and a whole range of issues – were covered in the short period of time,” he said.

Saraki promised that the lawmakers will do their best to meet the March deadline for the passage of the 2017 Budget.

Asked to assess the President’s state of health as a medical doctor, Saraki said President Buhari spoke well during the meeting.
