Osinbajo meets with ministers, IGP, heads of anti-graft agencies

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday had a close-door meeting with the heads of security and anti-graft agencies – the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed; Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Director General of Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority.

The heads of the anti-graft agencies had earlier met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari.

Kyari also had a meeting with the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah.

Chairman of EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu told State House correspondents that corruption was responsible for the current recession the country.

“I’m asking all Nigerians to join in the fight against corruption. Adults, children, men, women and including you journalists. Corruption is the greatest menace we are facing in the country. Corruption is responsible for the recession we are witnessing today. So all Nigerians must join in the fight against,” he said.

The country has been in recession since June, 2016.
