Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) has said that his group was working round the clock to make sure peace returns to all troubled parts of Nigeria.

Abubakar, who is the chairman of the National Peace Committee said this to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.

He  expressed the hope
that all crises facing the country
would be resolved by the Buhari-
led administration, with the support of his group and other stakeholders.

“We are still working, although
quietly. We are working to make
sure that there is peace in the
country and all the political
parties work amicably because
each one has got a role to play,”
Abubakar said.

“So, I hope the current
administration through the
assistance of all Nigerians will
give a helping hand to make sure
that these crises that are
unnecessary and uncalled for, we
overcome them,” he said.

Asked to comment on the the
government’s handling of the
Niger Delta Avengers and Boko
Haram crises,  Abubakar said,
“I have discussed with the
President whom I came to see and
I don’t think I need to disclose to
the media”.
